April 6, 2004

The EPA Region 9 Pesticide Program posted a Request for Proposals for a new FIFRA special project grant, the Worker Protection Standard (WPS) Stewardship Program. This is a Region 9 competitive grant program for Fiscal year 2004 only.

The Pesticide Program intends to award 2-3 grants ranging in size from $30,000 up to $50,000 per project. The purpose of the program is to help strengthen industry compliance with the Federal Worker Protection Standard (WPS) and minimize worker exposure to pesticides. State agencies, Tribes, local governments, universities, and non-profit organizations (including not-for-profit commodity groups or farmers' groups) are eligible to submit proposals. All proposals must be postmarked by May 21, 2004.

For the complete announcement, please view this EPA site.

Please pass this announcement on to any potential applicants within Region 9.
