The U.S. EPA Region 9 Pesticide Program posted a "Request for Proposal" for the Worker Protection Standard (WPS) Stewardship Program. The Pesticide Program intends to award 2 grants ranging in size from $30,000 to $50,000 per project. The purpose of the program is to help strengthen industry compliance with the Federal Worker Protection Standard (WPS) and minimize worker exposure to pesticides.

Participation of the regulated community (growers, farm labor contractors, commercial pesticide applicators, or other agricultural employers) will be critical to the successful project. Proposals should include letters of support or other indication of the strength of partnerships and extent of participation of regulated community. State agencies, Tribes, local governments, universities, and nonprofit organizations are eligible. All proposals must be received or postmarked by March 4, 2005.
