CDFA Request for Research Proposals on Management of Noxious and Invasive Weeds: Deadline May 22, 2001
The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) is now requesting research proposals from qualified research entities to perform research on the biology, ecology, or management of noxious and invasive weeds.
CDFA is soliciting grant requests from qualified public and private research entities in accordance with Senate Bill 1740 (signed September 2000). Proposed research projects must be needs-based, applied and practical. Proposals must be received at the CDFA Contracts Office no later than 3:00 p.m. on May 22, 2001 (postmarked proposals will not be accepted).
Four research priority areas were selected from responses to a survey conducted with the California Interagency Noxious Weed Coordinating Committee and priorities highlighted in a Weed Science Society of America research report entitled, "Future Research Directions for Weed Science." Research priority areas include:
- Impacts: Economic Analysis/Assessment and Ecological Impacts
- Integrated Weed Management: Refined Tools and Technology
- Restoration and Revegetation
- Other/ General Category

The NOFA will be available to prospective grantees beginning March 22, 2001. Further, all questions and requests regarding the NOFA must be made in writing to Jan Howard by April 20, 2001. Written requests should identify the NOFA number, name of entity, contact name, mailing address, phone number and fax number.
