UC BioSTAR Project Issues Call for Proposals
July 27, 2001
The University of California BioSTAR Project is issuing a request for research proposals.
The UC BioSTAR Project is a UC Systemwide industry-university matching grant program that jointly supports new biotechnology research opportunities throughout the nine campuses and three National Laboratories of the UC System.
Since its inception, BioSTAR and California biotechnology companies have contributed more than $50 million to UC scientists' research programs, with approximately 65% of proposals submitted to BioSTAR being approved for funding.
Last year, BioSTAR was limited to funding $5 million in matching grants. Because of the large number of proposals submitted in the May 2001 round, BioSTAR now has $6.5 million in funding for the 2001-2002 year.
We hope that you will consider submitting proposals to BioSTAR for the October 9, 2001 deadline or any future deadline. Details about the BioSTAR project can be found on our web site. The Web site includes a request for proposals.
