The UC Systemwide Biotechnology Research and Education Program has had annual support of approximately $1,500,000 in state funds since 1985. It has three major purposes:
A major goal of the program is to foster research at the forefront of biotechnology and, in the process, to educate future scientists. The continued development of California's world-class biotechnology industry is crucially dependent upon increased availability of personnel with relevant skills. This need can be best met by expanding the research opportunities and capabilities of younger scientists through support of training and the training environment. Funding opportunities have been substantially enhanced for fiscal year 2004-2005 applications. Applications may now propose plans to include:
The pre-proposals, using the guidelines published by the sponsor. Once the three most competitive proposals are selected, the principal investigators will be notified and asked to prepare a final proposal to forward to the sponsor. If you have any questions, please contact Matt Nguyen at 754-7667 or Louise Ivey. |
