Farm Advocate Appointed to Key Position in EPA Pesticide and Toxics Office

"I am pleased that Adam Sharp will work with us at EPA," commented Stephen L. Johnson, Assistant Administrator for that office. "Adam's extensive knowledge of agricultural issues will help us ensure that the voices of America's farmers are heard as we continue EPA's oversight of pesticides in the United States."

Sharp takes on this important role for EPA as the latest step in a career that most recently has included key positions in the American Farm Bureau Federation, based in Washington, D.C. Since 1995, Sharp has served the Farm Bureau in its Governmental Relations and Regulatory Affairs staff. For the past two years, he has been a director in the Federation, responsible for coordinating efforts to promote various agricultural policies on the federal level. Sharp has focused on environmental law and regulation, pesticides, air quality and biotechnology issues. He also has extensive experience working with members of Congress and the executive branch.

A native of Ohio, Sharp attended Ohio State University where he earned a bachelor's degree, majoring in agriculture communication and minoring in international economic and social development. Sharp currently resides in Arlington, Va.
