Request for Information on Dicofol Use in California

Subject: Request for Information on application of dicofol to apricots, nectarines or peaches in California during 2002

In response to Don Atwood's questions on the use of dicofol on apricots in California for the years 1999, 2000 and 2001, I offer the following information. I included nectarine and peach data, too, since I originally was asked for these crops for year 2002. The data are from the CDPR Pesticide Use Reporting system and the acreage data provided by the California Agricultural Commissioners' reports for each year.

1999
Apricots, 18,871 harvested acres, 40 fields treated, total of 1,518 acres, with 3,451 lbs ai dicofol, for 0.09% acres treated.
Nectarines, 36,122 harvested acres, 172 fields treated, total of 1,940 acres, with 2,654 lbs ai dicofol, for 0.084% acres treated.
Peach, 74,160 harvested acres, 274 fields treated, total of 3,674 acres, with 5,324 lbs ai dicofol, for 0.05% acres treated.

2000
Apricots, 18,681 harvested acres, 24 fields treated, total of 762 acres, with 1,005 lbs ai dicofol, for 0.041% acres treated.
Nectarines, 32,987 harvested acres, 54 fields treated, total of 790 acres, with 1,091 lbs ai dicofol, for 0.024% acres treated.
Peach, 71,813 harvested acres, 193 fields treated, total of 3,638 acres, with 5,207 lbs ai dicofol, for 0.048% acres treated.

2001
Apricots, 17,575 harvested acres, 22 fields treated, total of 998 acres, with 1,207 lbs ai dicofol, for 0.057% acres treated.
Nectarines, 34,565 harvested acres, 152 fields treated, total of 1,460 acres, with 2,139 lbs ai dicofol, for 0.042% acres treated.
Peach, 70,992 harvested acres, 362 fields treated, total of 5,036 acres, with 7,278 lbs ai dicofol, for 0.071% acres treated.
