Subject: Coppers Reregistration Eligibility Decision comments
Hello Mr. Kawate,
My name is Susan Anderson. I am a consultant with Versar, Inc., working with
EPA's Office of Pesticide Programs. I left a voice message on your answering
machine and I believe I left you the wrong phone number. I thought it might be
best to send you my questions in written form. We are reviewing the comments
you sent to EPA in October regarding the Coppers Reregistration Eligibility Decision
document. We have a few specific questions.
1. Is there a specific reason why growers would have to use the copper species
active ingredient that carries a 48 hour REI? Could they potentially use a less
toxic copper species that carries a 12 or 24 hour REI requiring minimal early
entry PPE plus protective eyewear?
2. Is the bagging of the banana bunch performed immediately after
the application of pesticide? Would it be correct to say that this
is a necessary part of the application process, thereby classifying
it as part of the applicators task?
