December 18, 2003

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is pleased to announce an opportunity to help implement the Food Quality Protection Act (FQPA) and support "transition" efforts by growers to more environmentally-sound pest management practices.

The 2004 Large FQPA Grant Program, described in the attached "Request for Proposals" (RFP) is intended for sustainable agriculture programs that address a diverse array of commodities and have a proven track record of grower participation and adoption of sustainable pest management practices. This grant program is administered by the Agriculture Initiative Program in EPA's Region 9, located in San Francisco, California.

As directed by the EPA Region 9 Administrator, EPA is only soliciting proposals for this RFP from qualified applicants located in the state of California. All organizations located in California with current sustainable agriculture programs are eligible to submit proposals including state, local governments, universities, Tribes, non-profits, and other eligible entities. For-profit organizations are not eligible.

Also, note the highlighted deadlines. If you have any questions or need clarification, please call James Liebman at (415) 947-4241 or e-mail him at: liebman.james@epa.gov
